Matthew Taylor, PT, PhD and Don Gereau have worked closely together over the past 15years. Don was the executive director of JDWI, Inc of Galena, Illinois. JDWI is a model facility for work and job training for persons with disabilities. Matt served on the board for six years, chairing the board his final year. Dr. Taylor is an expert in rehabilitation and wellness for individuals with disabilities as well as having his doctorate in organizational learning and change. Don Gereau

I am a partner in GT Mobility. GT Mobility is a consulting firm "Accessing Individual and Organizational Potential" founded in 2000 with Matthew J. Taylor; PT, PhD, RYT. who also founded Dynamic Systems Rehabilitation located in Scottsdale, Arizona. GT Mobility has been involved with the disability community as well as both non-profits and private companies. GT Mobility has a strong understanding of organizational expectations and the need to embrace leadership that balances the achievement of mission with the financial requirements. Our services consist of one-day seminars, organizational reviews and ongoing support. GT Mobility also presents numerous programs to assist and support Community Rehabilitation Programs.

  

I currently co-chair the Public Policy Committee, and serve on the Board of Directors of ACCSES, which is a national disability advocacy organization of Community Rehabilitation Programs.

  

I formerly served as the Chief Executive Officer of JDWI, a nonprofit corporation serving individuals with disabilities located in Galena, Illinois.  JDWI is a recognized leader in providing a holistic service model and generating over 65% of it's budget by creating and growing businesses that employ individuals with disabilities. JDWI is CARF accredited and operates a countywide state and federally funded transit system. I continue to serve as the Executive Director of JDWI Foundation.

  

It has been my pleasure to serve on the Board of Special Olympics Illinois. During my term as Board Chair, Special Olympics Illinois was reorganized using a business model, funds were raised and our first office building was constructed. Mrs. Eunice Kennedy Shriver appointed me to the Special Olympics Inc. Outreach Committee and I served as Vice-Chair for a two-year term. I am a founding member of the Special Olympics Illinois Foundation and currently serve as Vice-Chair.

 

I received my B.S. from Northern Illinois University School of Business from the Dept of Human Resources & Organizational Management. I am a Past Chairperson of the NIU President's Legislative Committee and served on the Alumni Board of Directors at NIU. I served as Chairperson of the Northwest Illinois Education to Work Partnership. I am the Past President of the Board of Education Galena School District #120 and was appointed a member of the Standards Review Committee for the Illinois State Board of Education. I served as a member of the Illinois Attorney General’s Disability Rights Advisory Council. I was appointed a member of the Transition Committee for the office of Illinois Attorney General and the Illinois Secretary of State.

  

I live in historic Galena, Illinois with my wife, Kathy who is a retired special education teacher. My daughter, Madeline is living in Los Angeles where she is teaching a Head Start program as a first year core member of Teach for America. Madeline is also working on her masters at Loyola Marymount University.

2003 Agency Strategies for Today’s Uncertainties .

This session will give an overview on creating an outline on Agency Strategy.   We will assess the need to crafting an Agency Vision, determining Agency Strengths, defining Strategic Areas and a spirited Plan of Action.

This session will give an overview on creating useable Individual Program Plans for Community Rehabilitation Programs and the tools required to develop a holistic individual centered services

Dr. Matt Taylor, PT, PhD 

 

Dr. Taylor has a 27-year history of experience in rehabilitation and wellness. See his biography for details. While serving on the JDWI board of directors, Matt directed the implementation of a comprehensive wellness program for the clients and staff at JDWI. This program won the Illinois Association of Rehabilitation Facilities Best of the Best award for new programming in 2000. He has been a key note speaker and presenter on this topic to conferences featuring programming for individual's with disabilities. Matt has owned physical therapy and health club businesses, and brings his programming development expertise to GT Mobility. Presently he is residing in Scottsdale , AZ and is the owner of the most innovative physcial rehabilitation clinics in the country www.myrehab.com and also www.dynamicsystemsrehab.com , an online learning community for integrative rehabilitation and wellness services. Dr. Taylor is President of the board of directors of the International Association of Yoga Therapists, board member of the Academic Consortium of Complementary and Alternative Health Care , and conducting research at the Courage Center in Minneapolis to help them become the first mind-body based residential physical rehabilitation center in the country.
